Blackbirds
This book is brutal. It is harsh. It is profane. It is graphic. It will not be for everyone. However, for the most part it really worked for me. That said, no matter how much I love about a book's style and the voice of the protagonist (and Miriam has a strong voice right from line one of the book), I always have trouble connecting with it when I not just dislike but have a visceral negative reaction to almost everyone.
